1. What is UC Online?

UC Online is the most powerful online Chinese learning platform to date. It is so because UC Online provides a true multimedia and interactive learning environment. UC’s technology provides users with online interactive learning experience that is unparallel. You do not have to take our words for it. You can try our free lessons today and compare our learning solution with any others.

2. What can I learn online?

We have over 30 topics and hundreds of lessons online already. New lessons, free or fee-based (for premium content only), are added to UC web site on the daily basis. All UC contents are in multimedia format and interactive. You can learn any lessons; listen to the dialogue and repeat; study the new words; practice how to write Chinese characters following stroke demonstrations, and more. Be able to download the MP3 files into your iPod and learn any where you go is only one of the many functions that UC provides to users.

3. Are there free lessons that I can try out?

Yes. We have 8 free lessons at the top portion of the Home page where you can try out. UC also has a section names UC Daily Lessons on the Home page where we publish one free lesson each day. If you register as a UC member (FREE), you can see more free lessons just for members only.

4. What is the difference between UC and other Chinese learning Web sites?

Many web site claim that they offer Chinese lessons but most are static html pages, or simple MP3 files for users to download. User can only play them on iPod to listen. In other words, users only practice the listening comprehension skill without the benefit of learning Chinese language, or the lesson with emphasis on all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. UC, on the other hand, offers users true multimedia contents allowing users to interactively learning the contents with recording, writing, role playing, and exercises functions.

Best of all, UC combines online and office learning (UC Companion, please see the section on UC Companion) providing users with the maximum flexibility and power to learn on themselves.

5. Do I have to register and what benefits do I get if I register at UC?

You do NOT have to register on UC. All the 8 full lessons are free for you and all the UC Daily Lessons are available for you to learn free of charge. However, with a FREE simple registration, you will have the following benefits:

      a. More free lessons available to registered users covering a wide range of topics
      b. You can participate in Lesson Discussion and post your questions and share your learning experiences with peer students who are also learning that specific lesson.
      c. You can participate in Conversation Board and post your questions on anything about China or Chinese studying.
      d. You can download useful learning tools to your UC Companion and empower your learning experience.
      e. You can receive update notification and useful information pertaining to your study and UC community.

6. Do I need to register with a real e-mail address?

Do I need to register with a real e-mail address? Yes. And we encourage you to do so. Otherwise, if you loose your password (for online and offline UC Companion), there is no way we can notify you. Other services are also verified by sending an e-mail to the one you provide. Only if the e-mail address is valid, can the service be activated.

7. How to buy a lesson?

You can buy a lesson in multiple ways:
     1) under Lesson page:
     2) Within a specific online lesson. You can find lessons with similar topics with the lesson you are viewing/learning.

8. What do I get after I make a purchase?

Depending on the nature of the content, components vary from lesson to lesson. But almost all UC lessons come with multimedia lesson, MP3 and PDF files and flash video clip.

9. Where are my purchased lessons? and what do I do with them?

Your purchased lessons are sitting under My UC and you can see them after you log into your account.
