Unlike English, the expression of opinions in China is done in a roundabout and almost ambiguous way. For example, if you are inviting someone to see a film and he says "no thanks, I’m busy today" this means "no, I can’t go". Whereas if the reply is "let me think about it" it means they may or may not go. When talking about a person, the Chinese way of expression always puts one’s strong points before one’s shortcomings. In this way, one’s opinions are put forward without hurting others’ feelings.
