Life as a Student - Asking for Information
Beijing time, which is Greenwich Mean Time plus eight hours, is called China's standard time. From the east to the west, there are four different time zones in China, but only Beijing time is used across the country. Units of time in Chinese are similar to those in English. "一刻钟 (yī kè zhōng)" is a quarter or fifteen minutes. "半小时 (bàn xiǎo shí)" is half an hour. "一小时 (yī xiǎo shí)" is one hour. In general Chinese people are very punctual. Late arrivals are considered quite impolite.
