This is a introduction of Chinese characters' evolution.Take the "人" for example.

沙（sand） It is an associative compound. It means there is some fine sand in the bottom of the river. Some phrases with "沙(sand)" are related to sand, such as "沙滩(the sands)" and "沙场" means battlefield.

好（good / well） This one is made up of "女(female)" and "子(baby)". It means it is good and nice enough for a family because the girl has more children and it is the representation of happiness.

问（ask） There is a "口(mouth)" inside the "门(a door)" meaning coming in and asking for something. Most phrases containing "问(ask)" are related to different ways of asking.
